Jose Fabricio Lopez Cochachi PhD Student

Biography

Fabricio Lopez is a second-year PhD student in the Department of French and Italian. He has a BA from Dartmouth College in Comparative Literature (French and History) with minors in Italian and German Studies. His undergraduate thesis studied the rhetorical categories of history and memory in Marcel Proust’s Le Temps Retrouvé and Jules Michelet’s Histoire de la Révolution Française through the concepts of ‘fictionalized history’ and ‘memorialized history’. At Emory University, he intends to pursue a certificate in Comparative Literature and in Psychoanalytic Studies. He is interested in working with writings rooted in the aftermath of historical events and transformations, especially those related to violence, trauma, and ‘silence’ in the historical records. He received a Centennial Scholars Fellowship.
