Biography
Joslyn Gardner is a PhD candidate in the Department of French and Italian. Her research puts Black feminist thought in conversation with francophone African and Caribbean literatures. Her understanding of Black feminisms is transnational as she thinks with scholars, writers, and artists from Haiti, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Senegal, Cameroon, Côte d'Ivoire, France, Canada, and the United States.
She co-founded and co-runs the Black Feminist Working Group on campus. Graduate students who critically engage Black feminist theory gather to workshop, read, and think together. She is also a member of the Caribbean Studies Working Group.
Joslyn is pursuing a certificate in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. She is also a recipient of the Centennial Scholars Fellowship.
