Dakshayani (Daksha) Shankar is a fifth-year PhD candidate in the Department of French and Italian at Emory University. She has had extensive work experience in media institutions, ranging from CNN and ABC News to The Sydney Morning Herald. With this corporate experience, she holds research interests around the theory and practice of power and sovereignty within European and Global Politics. 

Her current work involves returning to the Global Middle Ages and Renaissance to understand foundations of statehood across French and Francophone states.
