ECLC Excellence in Language Studies Award Winner in Italian

Harrison GraberHarrison Graber

Harrison Graber is graduating from Emory University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Bachelor of Arts in Italian Studies. He served as President of the Emory Italian Club, where he helped grow the club’s presence and brought Italian culture to life through creative programming. He also worked as Vice President of Service for the Pre-Dental Society, leading volunteer events focused on dental outreach and public health.

Harrison was awarded the Italian Studies Excellence in Learning Award and received the Italian Studies Study Abroad Scholarship. He has also been recognized on the Dean’s List.

After graduation, Harrison will spend his gap year conducting dental research at the University of Florida while also working toward earning his private pilot’s license. He’s excited for what’s ahead and grateful for the amazing community he found at Emory—especially within the Italian Studies Program.

Excellence in Italian Language Award

Lucy CorkranLucy Corkran

This prestigious award is presented to a distinguished first or second-year student for exceptional dedication and performance in Italian Studies and is made possible through the generous support of our Italian Studies alumni. The Italian Studies Program has chosen Lucy to recognize for her exceptional dedication and achievements in Italian studies.

Lucy Corkran is a sophomore from Atlanta, Georgia and an Art History and Italian Double Major. She is interested the ecclesiastical architecture of the Middle Ages and Italian Renaissance and Baroque, as well as medieval social history. She is also an artist and enjoys applying her artistic skills to her investigation of architectural studies. She presented research on the Roman Baroque church of Sant'Antonio dei Portoghesi at the 2025 SUNY New Paltz Undergraduate Research Symposium. She has also been a research assistant for the American Excavations Samothrace project through the Visual Resource Library in the Art History Department. Lucy has been named on the Dean's List and has been tapped to join the Mortar Board Honor's Society for the upcoming academic year.
